The Ethos
Why Arbitrium?
Arbitrium is derived from the Latin word meaning judgment, decision, and the exercise of free will. In Roman law, arbitrium referred to the authoritative power vested in a judge to weigh evidence, assess merit, and render a binding determination.
We chose this name because it captures the essence of what we do: we exercise careful judgment to identify and fund legal claims with genuine merit. Just as the Roman arbiter evaluated the strength of each party’s position before reaching a decision, we rigorously assess every case on its merits before committing our capital.
Arbitrium Legal Funding stands at the intersection of legal insight and financial resolve - empowering claimants to pursue justice without bearing the financial burden alone.

Step by Step
How Does It Work?
01
A Claim Opportunity Arises
A change in legislation, regulatory ruling or legal precedent gives rise to a significant volume of valid, enforceable claims across the UK.
02
Regulated Firms Take On Cases
SRA-regulated law firms identify and onboard affected claimants, but need external capital to fund the legal process at scale.
03
We Assess Every Detail
Our legal and investment teams conduct thorough due diligence on the claim type, the law firm and the defendant before any capital is committed.
04
Investor Capital Is Deployed
Once approved, we provide secured funding to the law firm, enabling them to pursue claims on behalf of claimants with full financial backing.
05
Claims Reach Resolution
The law firm progresses each case through to settlement or judgment, securing financial outcomes for the claimants involved.
06
Returns Are Delivered
As claims settle, the proceeds repay the original funding plus the agreed return, delivering income back to investors on a defined schedule.

"
“Arbitrium provided the financial backing our law firm needed to support employees who had been made redundant and were seeking the pay they were entitled to. Their team understood the case type from day one, and their funding was instrumental in achieving a successful outcome.”

We recognised an opportunity to connect private investment with high-quality litigation opportunities, enabling individuals and businesses to pursue legitimate legal claims that might otherwise remain unfunded.
Through rigorous due diligence, disciplined capital allocation and strong governance, we have created a litigation finance platform designed to expand access to justice while delivering consistent, uncorrelated returns for our investors.
